On Tuesday 12th April 2011, the company Vassos Eliades Accessories Ltd, hosted a lunch for the ex-president of Cyprus, the Honourable Mr. Glafkos Klerides, attended by close friends and distinguished guests. Mr. George Eliades, the owner of the company, presented to the distinguished guest the first of a 50-piece Limited Edition Pen created by the world-famous pen maker Montegrappa to celebrate of 50 years of democracy on the island.
During Mr. Klerides presidency, Cyprus prospered significantly. Its stabilised economy made Cyprus the wealthiest of the ten inductees to the European Union in 2004. The Klerides administration is credited with the ascension to the European Union. Klerides was respected by world leaders at the time of his presidency, and was respected locally because of his accomplishments.
To mark this occasion, Montegrappa fashioned a piston-fed fountain pen made of Mediterranean Blue pearlised resin with sterling silver overlays. The overlay on the cap features a repeat of the numerals 50, while the overlay on the barrel features an image of the wild mouflon sheep engraved in bas-relief, which is considered a symbol of Cyprus. True to all Montegrappa writing implements, the Cyprus 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Fountain Pen is fitted with the signature Montegrappa pocket clip with the revolving sphere and the 1912 logo on the top of cap.
