Dreams of discovering unknown lands have always ignited human curiosity. Aurora celebrates with a new Limited Edition Collection Ancient Maps that allowed Man to discover Uncharted Lands. An Ancient Map reveals not only the hope of discovery, the passion for exploration, but also denotes how the world has been delineated and unveiled, up to what we know today. Five fountain pens, symbols of 5 Ancient Maps that represent a new world overcomes its limits by bringing, through new discoveries, further knowledge to civilazation.

Aurora created for this Collection new essential pen details: an armillary head, an observation instrument for explorers to orient themselves through the stars.

A new bottom was designed symbolizing the rose of wind a driving tool of ancient maps. The clip, with the rings, reflect the movement of the sea and navigation.

The second map is located in the city of Venice, in the Marciana Library. It is the work of the monk Fra Mauro, who in 1450 created one of the most important documents in cartography during the transition period between the medieval conception and the new explorations. It is the last map to represent the Middle Ages before the advent of the modern era. The Mappa Mundi, painted in gold and blue, shows places such as Japan and contradicts previous Ptolemaic notions, suggesting the possibility of circumnavigating Africa. It documents the trade routes and cultural influences between Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Fra Mauro is the first circular map in the world, with a diameter of about 2 meters on a large sheet of parchment.

In this Limited Edition Collection, Aurora wants to involve the sense of Touch: developing a special tactile sleeve in relief where, with closed eyes, the explorers’ stages will be followed. This will allow you to dive by touching with your fingers the routes of the Ancient Maps that marked the New World.
