Montegrappa unveils one of the year’s most seductive silhouettes: limited editions of 100 fountain pens and 100 rollerballs mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of Giacomo (Jacques) Casanova.

Born in Venice in 1725, the legendary adventurer, writer, and libertine is at the heart of this year’s Carnival (14 February – 4 March). The iconic codes of Venice’s most famous celebration intertwine with neoclassical elements to create a design that is both sophisticated and theatrical.

Crafted from sterling silver, celluloid, and brass, these pens radiate lavish elegance through yellow gold and enamel accents, enhanced by an ornate clip and a large, faceted red carnelian.

At the core of the design is an intricate silver overlay on the barrel. Created using lost-wax casting, vermeil, and cloisonné, the decorative structure features a key mechanism and a hinged “door,” beneath which Casanova is revealed sharing his wisdom with two young students—perhaps sisters.

This refined mechanism pays homage to “curious” antique objets d’art: exquisite pieces designed for the admiration—and pleasure—of their owners.

The custom packaging offers exceptional display possibilities, both in-store and at home: a scarlet-lacquered case with plush lining that doubles as a jewelry box, complete with a working replica of the silhouette’s golden key.
