Investment casting and hand enamelling capture central elements of Hemingway's story.

A carved cap and caseback in kotibé mahogany represent the boat of Santiago, while enamelled segments depict the sea and the sky, forming the backdrop to the edition's centrepiece.

Inspired by earlier editions of the book, a full-length sculpted silver barrel depicts the angler's fight with the marlin.

Additional details include a fishing rod clip, sculpted trim rings, an engraved grip section, and a high-relief cap top brandishing Hemingway's Sport Fishing Monogram.

On the lower shaft, the translucent ocean blue glaze reveals sculpted details underneath: the ocean currents and the sharks that harass Santiago's attempts to return to shore.

The Old Man and the Sea is made as a fountain pen and rollerball on two levels: solid silver and vermeil (24Kt yellow gold plated silver).

The custom packaging for this edition was designed with display in mind and includes a weathered wooden replica of Santiago's boat, designed to feature a die-cut metal marlin mascot.
